Monroe already owns a four-star rating from Scout, which ranks him as the nation's No. 5 safety and No. 69 overall prospect in the 2016 class.
The state of Texas is loaded at safety in the 2016 cycle.
While Monroe is already ranked as a top 70 player nationally, but Scout lists him as the third-best safety in the Lone Star State behind fellow four-stars Brandon Jones of Nacogdoches and Deontay Anderson of Manvel. The state's 2016 class also boasts Katy Tompkins four-star Christian Wallace and Katy four-star Collin Wilder, who is committed to Texas Tech.
Monroe has camped this summer at LSU and Texas A&M. The 6-foot, 180-pounder is a very good open-field tackler who consistently finishes his tackles. He runs downhill well and plays cognizant of the run game, making tackles on the perimeter and often stopping backs not far from the line of scrimmage and even along the line of scrimmage.
However, he also possesses impressive ball skills and an ability to break on passes that make him the type of well-rounded safety college programs flock to recruit.
Monroe will continue to be one of the most sought-after prospects in the state's 2016 class. Check back with Scout as we track his recruitment.
