| Considered the nation’s top offensive player as a Houston Madison senior, freshman Vince Young redshirted in 2002 and is now expected to contend for the starting spot behind center…Parade National Player of the Year…The Sporting News top high school prospect of 2002...the 2001 Texas 5A Player of the Year…a three-year starter who registered 7,624 yards during his prep career…completed 131-of-224 passes for 2,545 yards (against just four INTs) and 35 TDs as a senior…also rushed for 1,274 yards on 116 attempts (10.9 yards-per-carry) and 24 rushing TDs…led Division II state semi-finalist Madison team to a 14-1 record and 50.3 points-per-game average as a senior…considered the jewel of Texas’ top-ranked 2002 recruiting class… "He’s a very mature kid," offensive coordinator Greg Davis said. I’m excited about the things he can do. He’s big, fast and has a strong arm." |
