Biography:
When the Cowboys selected Nathan Jones in the seventh round (205th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft, they were looking to add young depth to their secondary while addressing needs on special teams. Jones met both criteria, and he was quickly thrown into the fire, performing admirably as the slot cover man in the club's nickel and dime packages. He also saw action on special team coverage units and as a kickoff returner - where he averaged 23.2 yards-per-return during his career at Rutgers. Jones saw action in all 16 games - with one start - during his rookie campaign and recorded 31 tackles, three pressures, a sack and a tackle for a loss while returning two kickoffs for 43 yards.
