Texas broke out on top in the opening frame with Scott Dodge’s base hit to right field, scoring Dustin Majewski from second. Missouri responded in the second inning on the strength of Jayce Tingler’s two-run triple followed by Ian Kinsler’s RBI base hit to put the Tigers out in front 3-1.
But Texas would answer with Seth Johnston’s first career home run in the bottom of the second to trim the deficit to 3-2. The Horns went on top for good an inning later with Tim Moss’ bases loaded double to drive in three. Majewski’s RBI single completed the scoring at 6-3.
In relief, Sam LeCure held the Tigers to one hit between the fourth and eighth innings while striking out a career-best four to register his third win of the year.
Missouri had runners on the corners with only one out in the ninth, the result of two fielding errors. But with the tying run at the plate, Huston Street struck out both Ryan Rallo and Cody Ehlers to earn his team-leading fourth save of the year.
Both Majewski and Johnston went 2-for-4 and each collected an RBI on the afternoon, while Moss matched a career high for RBI with three.
