In addition, former walk-on footballer and track athlete Joe Davis, Erik Hall, and Myron Hardy also worked out in front of nearly 25 NFL teams. Most notable among the scouts were Gil Brandt, Green Bay Packer GM Ted Thompson, and Packer scout Alonzo Highsmith.
The event also brought many former Longhorn players to Austin, including current NFL players Cedric Griffin, Aaron Ross, and Derrick Johnson, and Austin residents like Rod Babers, Ahamd Brooks, Kwame Cavil, and Montrell Flowers.
Brian Orakpo, Quan Cosby, and Roy Miller did not participate in the majority of the combine elements as they did not need to improve their scores. Cosby did do the bench and the vertical.
Players had the opportunity to have their hand widths, height, and weight measured before moving other to the vertical jump and broad jump. Then, the players ran the forty and the twenty yard shuttle before finishing with the bench press of 225 pounds.
After the workouts in the weight room were completed, the entourage headed over to the Bubble for some position specific drills and the three cone shuttle drill test (aka the L- drill). Several players including Cosby, Ogbonnaya, and Davis caught passes from former Iowa and Baytown Lee quarterback Drew Tate, and former NFL quarterback and Austin resident Jeff Blake.
