D. J. Jones of Denison finished a tremendous junior season where rushed for over 2600 yards and 35 touchdowns and an eye opening 11.1 yards per carry. Since the end of his football season, Jones has been contributing on the hardwood for the Yellowjackets.

"I've been averaging about 10 points a game. I score and work hard on the boards," said Jones.

As far as recruiting goes, Jones only had time to make one college game during the season.

"Coach Kennedy and Applewhite invited me down for the Baylor game in Austin," said Jones. "It was the only free time I had during the season," added Jones.

Jones was a first team 4A All-State selection as junior, but does not have any offers yet, but he is getting some interest in the way of junior day invites.

"I heard from Florida for their junior day and Texas A&M, but I do not have an invite to the Texas junior day," said Jones. "Kansas and Texas Tech are probably showing me the most interest."

When asked about his interest in schools, Jones had a list in mind.

"More than likely, I'd commit to Texas if they offered, but I would want to talk to my coach first. I also have interest in Oklahoma, Florida, and Kansas," said Jones.

After basketball season, Jones is interested in visiting some of the combines and camps.
