On Tuesday, Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis announced that offensive lineman Greg Smith would start getting snaps a tight end and, according to a team source, one of the main reasons behind this is an injury to sophomore backup tight end Josh Marshall.
According to the source, the injury occurred during a collision between Marshall and junior safety Ishie Oduegwu. The full extend of Marshall's injury is unknown, but a broken shoulder bone is suspected.
Last season as a redshirt freshman, Marshall appeared in seven games as a backup tight end and on special teams.
UPDATE: Longhorn athletic trainer Kenny Boyd has confirmed that Marshall sustained a left scapula injury. No timetable has been set for his return.
