No 'Secondary' Concern?
InsideTexas.com
Texas replaces three starting DBs from a 2007 defense that yielded a school record 277.8 passing ypg, and that may not be such a bad thing. Here's how secondary coach Duane Akina sizes up his young troops following the first week of August camp.

Texas cleans up image

Just three weeks remain before the season opener, and Texas can be found nowhere in the latest rankings. Georgia's right there at the top, and Oklahoma's drawn its share of attention. Wisconsin's getting some notice as well, while Penn State is front and center. Arkansas, too, has made its presence felt. But the Longhorns have not been ranked. They haven't been booked, charged or incarcerated either. In fact, if it weren't for Cedric Benson's shenanigans, we wouldn't have had any summertime courtroom drama at all. We speak, of course, of the police blotter for football players, and the unofficial rankings of the college teams most out of control.

Miller is an unblockable force

Texas backed up by one too many backs

They call it a three-headed monster. Chris Ogbonnaya, Vondrell McGee and Fozzy Whittaker. Three Longhorn running backs competing for one starting job. There's power in numbers but in this case, two heads are better than three.

Scouting report: Defensive line
Austin American-Statesman
The defensive line is a tale of two positions. Led by Brian Orakpo, the talent and depth at end is spectacular, enough so that two starters from a year ago moved to tackle. However, tackle will rely heavily on Roy Miller, while hoping that the two former ends — Lamarr Houston and Aaron Lewis — can stop the run as well as they can rush the passer.

Question marks still surround UT
San Antonio Express-News
When Texas players reported for the beginning of fall camp last week, coach Mack Brown even acknowledged that the Longhorns had more questions than answers as they readied for their Aug. 30 opener against Florida Atlantic. From finding a third receiver to identifying first-team safeties, UT’s to-do list ?is a long one.

Three potential RBs not bickering, despite contest
Daily Texan
Behind door number one is a team leader, skilled blocker and a productive pass catcher. Behind door number two is a powerful back with a quick burst of speed when hitting the hole. Behind door number 3 is a shifty back with good lateral quickness and the ability to break off the big run. Who do you choose as your running back? If you're the Longhorn football team, you'll take all of the above.
