"I wouldn't mind playing both football and basketball, but I've talked to some guys that have done it and they said it wasn't a good idea because they interfere with each other. I'm leaning towards football," Okafor said.
From all indications, sticking with football should be a very good decision for Okafor. Several coaches have already stopped by to check out his game during spring practice at Bellaire High School. UCLA and Oklahoma have already made the trip to Houston.
It's still very early in the recruiting process for the other members of the 2010 class, but Okafor isn't wasting any time. Okafor has already established a top five, but he isn't ruling anyone out either.
What makes these schools so special?
UCLA: "I like the location and the weather. I also like the system they run."
Texas: "I like that Texas produces a lot of defensive linemen that go to the NFL."
Oklahoma: "They recruit a lot of kids from Texas, and I know a lot of people up there."
Florida: "I like their defense. I liked their defensive line this year."
Michigan: "I just like their defense."
Okafor mentioned that he would likely camp at UCLA, Texas and Oklahoma over the summer and might also try to take a trip to Florida.
