“Who's your number one?”
“Texas.”
“Who's your number one?”
“Texas.”
“Who's your number one?”
“Texas.”
And so on it went. That's how the conversation between Brownwood defensive back Kenny Vaccaro and his mother, Alisha, went each time he would get a new offer. Finally, they both realized that the answer wasn't going to change.
“I'd just got done talking with Notre Dame and USC and my mom asked again, 'Who's your number one?' I said 'Texas' again,” Kenny Vaccaro told Inside Texas. “So she said that if it wasn't going to change, why not commit?”
That's exactly what he did. Vaccaro picked up the phone and gave Texas head coach Mack Brown a call to let Brown know he'd gotten his 12th commitment for the Class of 2009.
“(Texas) left the best impression,” said Vaccaro. “My mom is 100 percent behind me on going where I want to and she's happy because I'm going somewhere that's best for me and that I'm going to be safe.”
Vaccaro has also already connected with one of his future teammates, Clear Creek cornerback Marcus Davis.
“I've gotten to know him real well and we're even talking about being roommates,” said Vaccaro.
Last season, Vaccaro posted 110 tackles and 7 INT's as a junior, earning first team all 16-4A honors along with first team All-Big Country and Honorable Mention All-State.
