Will Texas Offer Cobb?
"Yes sir, he did," Ellison coach Buddy McBride said when asked if Daniel Cobb made it to Texas' junior day. "It went real well. I think they are close to offering, but it's not official yet." Cobb had the opportunity to sit down with his position coach and head coach Mack Brown during his visit to the 40 Acres. "They said that they were going to send him something in the mail," McBride said. "They wanted to know whether he was interested in coming to Texas, and I think he made that pretty clear when he talked with his position coach." The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Cobb has played defensive back for the majority of his career and is also dangerous on kickoff and punt returns. On the defensive side of the ball, he led his team in interceptions and was second in tackles during his junior season. Simply put, McBride described Cobb as a ‘special athlete'. "Next year, we are going to put him at running back," McBride said. "He is also a tremendous return man. A lot of teams were afraid to kick it to us. He scored a lot of touchdowns on punt returns." According to McBride, Cobb already holds scholarship offers from Texas Tech and Georgia Tech. Houston is also very close to offering.
