Poll Report: Pandelirium

Posted Dec 2, 2007

The final BCS standings were announced on Sunday and the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers will face off in the National Championship. That means a two-loss team is in, a team that didn't play for weeks and lost in November is in, a one-loss previous No. 1 is out, an undefeated is out and half the Top 25 has a legitimate claim at the title game. Pandelirium.

The dust has finally settled and Ohio State and LSU will face-off for the national title in New Orleans, leaving as many as nine other Top 25 teams with two losses -- and a one-loss and an undefeated team -- crying fowl.

Three Big 12 teams finished in the mix, but just outside the title game due to late-season losses. Oklahoma is at No. 4 after beating previously No. 1 Missouri, who beat would-be No. 1 Kansas. The Tigers and Jayhawks finish the regular season at No. 6 and No. 8 in the BCS respectively.

The Texas Longhorns finished their regular season at 9-3 after a disappointing loss to Texas A&M and will head to San Diego to play 10-2 Arizona State. The Sun Devils were left out of the BCS, primarily due to the Rose Bowl's desire to both keep a Big 10-Pac 10 match-up and prevent a rematch, selecting three-loss Illinois over ASU.
