The Texas Longhorns officially trail 6-5 to UC Irvine in the bottom of the seventh in their Round Rock Regional, which was suspended because of lighting in the area and will be finished at 1 p.m. Monday.

Texas is trailing 6-5, but won't be able to finish its Regional game with the UC Irvine Anteaters until Monday because of lightning in the area. With one more loss, the Horns are out. If the Longhorns are victorious when the game is restarted, they'll play UC Irvine one more time for the right to advance to the Super Regional.

After pitching the twelfth and final inning of Sunday's 7-4 extra inning win over Wake Forest, Texas pitcher Austin Wood got the start again in the night game. Wood struggled for most of his two and a third innings and did about as well as one could expect from a tired lefty pitching both games of a double-header against an almost entirely right-handed line-up in which every single batter is hitting over .300.

The official line on Wood ended up being three earned runs on four hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Keith Shinaberry replaced Wood in the third inning and was touched for a pair of runs in the sixth inning by UC Irvine, where the sophomore submariner was replaced by another pitcher who threw earlier in the day, Joseph Krebs.

It was the Longhorns struck first in the game. In the top of the second, shortstop Chais Fuller brought home Bradley Suttle with an RBI double

The first few innings featured some impressive defensive plays from Texas fielders, but it also meant that the Anteaters were getting their bats on the ball. It was only a matter of time before they started falling in and that time happened in the bottom of the third.

UC Irvine's Cody Cipriano fired a two-RBI double down the left field line to give the Anteaters the lead. Matt Morris followed with a perfectly executed SAC bunt to bring home shortstop Ben Orloff and UC Irvine took a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Josh Prince came in to pinch hit with two runners on base and two outs. The freshman, who hit a game-winner against A&M in the final regular season series, came through with a huge two-RBI double to tie the game at 3.

Texas took the lead back from UC Irvine with a clutch hit from an unlikely hero.

Longhorn back-up catcher Brett Lewis, who got the start in the Round Rock Regional after starting catcher Preston Clark went down with a sprained knee in a freak jogging accident, was hitting .163 heading into the game. But in the top of the sixth Lewis smashed a ball into the right field corner, scoring both Chais Fuller and Bradley Suttle to give Texas a 5-3 lead.

Back-and-forth they went. UC Irvine responded in the bottom half of the sixth with a pair of runs thanks to a Bryan Peterson RBI double and a Cipriano RBI triple. The Anteaters then went ahead when DH Jeff Cusick scored from third on a fielders choice in the second out of the inning. The sixth inning finally ended UC Irvine center fielder Ollie Linton was caught trying to steal home.

During the seventh inning stretch, officially at 8:22 p.m., umpire Nelson Graham put a stop to the game because of a massive approaching thunderstorm. If the game doesn't restart, it will be finished at 1 p.m. Monday, when the second game Texas-UC Irvine game (if necessary) was scheduled to start. If Texas wins, the Longhorns and Anteaters will play again one hour after the conclusion of the first game.
