Recruiting: Who's Next?
Wide receiver Jeffrey Fuller has become one of the hottest commodities in the Lone Star State over the last couple of weeks. He is currently in the middle of spring practice, and some of the nation's top programs are making their way down to Boyd to see what he can do. "Recruiting is going great," Fuller told Inside Texas Wednesday. "Michigan is coming up to the school tomorrow. Ohio State is coming up next week. OU is coming up tomorrow too, and Texas came by the day before yesterday." "No, I didn't get a chance to talk to the coaches," Fuller replied when asked if he had any contact with the Texas coaches during their visit. "We are not really allowed to do that." Fuller gathered tons of early interest from several Big 12 schools, but Texas was not one of them. That changed last week when Fuller started receiving text messages from the Longhorn coaching staff. "Last week," Fuller said when asked how long he has been hearing from Texas. "They have been communicating with me through text messaging, and I have talked to them on the phone a couple of times." According to Fuller, the Longhorns are showing strong interest in him. In fact, Fuller is planning on making a trip down to Austin in two weeks and believes that he will receive an offer during the visit. "I'm going on an unofficial two weeks from now," Fuller said. "They told me that they never offer anyone that Coach Brown hasn't met. So, I'm going to go up there and meet Coach Brown. I'm real interested in them (Texas)." Despite never having visiting the campus in Austin, Fuller knows all about the tradition on the 40 Acres. "They have a winning tradition and a great program. They put a lot of players into the NFL. They have a great coaching staff as well," Fuller said. Another elite program that Fuller has been taking a hard look at is USC. He grew up in Palo Alto, California, and is very familiar with the schools in California. "Oh yeah, definitely," Fuller replied when asked about his interest in USC. "Their coaches are going to be at a camp I'm going to next week." Fuller currently holds offers from Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Duke, TCU, Oklahoma State, Colorado and Wisconsin. He is expecting both Texas and USC to offer in the near future as well. Fuller plans on narrowing things down during the summer and making a decision before the start of his senior season.
