The Associated Press has confirmed that the Boston Celtics have been fined $30,000 for "inappropriate" contact with Kevin Durant's family.

Boston Celtics manager Danny Ainge was shown on ESPN cameras during the Big 12 Tournament sitting next to and conversing with Texas freshman forward Kevin Durant's mother, Wanda Pratt.

The NBA has now fined the Celtics $30,000 for violating league rules that mandate contact be kept to a "minimum" between team executives and the potential draft picks, especially top draft picks.

Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss told the AP that Ainge is on the road scouting players and did not offer specifics of the fine.

The story was first reported by Sports Illustrated on its website.
