OKLAHOMA CITY - The Texas Longhorns will travel to Spokane, Wash. to take on the 13th seeded New Mexico State Aggies in their first round NCAA Tournament game.

It’ll be the Longhorns and the Aggies in the first round of the NCAA Tournament…the New Mexico State Aggies.

Texas received the four-seed after falling to Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament Championship on Selection Sunday. The Longhorns stuck around the Ford Center in Oklahoma City after their Big 12 Championship game loss to watch the selection announcements and find out where they are heading and who they are playing. After the announcement, Texas head coach Rick Barnes cautioned that New Mexico State shouldn't be taken lightly.

"They (the Aggies) are a good team. They're in the tournament and we know that on any given night any team can win," said Barnes.

While Texas is going to the state of Washington, they’re officially in the East Bracket. The No. 1 seed in the East is the ACC Champion North Carolina Tarheels. Georgetown is the two-seed in East Bracket and Washington State is the three-seed.

If Texas beats New Mexico State on Friday, the Horns will face a Sunday game vs. the winner of the No. 5 seed USC and the No. 12 seed Arkansas.

The No. 1 seeds are North Carolina, Ohio State, Kansas and Florida, with the Gators holding the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
