NFL Texas Exes: Roy Returns To Form

Detroit snapped a five-game losing streak with a 26-12 win over Arizona. In the contest, Lions’ WR Roy Williams had his best outing in weeks with four catches for 76 yards. Williams, who has been slowed much of the season with an ankle sprain, also provided a key block in the second-quarter to help make way for a 74-yard run by Detroit RB Kevin Jones. With 605 yards and five TDs on the season, the rookie wideout leads his team in receiving.

On the other side of the ball, DT Shaun Rogers had three tackles and DE Cory Redding added one for the Lions. Rogers and Redding served on the D-line that gave up only 254 total yards and did not allow any Cardinals’ rusher to reach 50 yards on the ground.

OG Leonard Davis played for Arizona, but his Cardinals squad struggled and only found the end zone one time in the loss.

San Diego took control of the AFC West on Sunday with a 20-17 win over Denver. CB Quentin Jammer and the Chargers' defense carried the team to victory and a 9-3 record by limiting the Broncos’ potent rushing offense to just 74 yards and picking off Denver QB Jake Plummer four times. Jammer registered three tackles but the defensive back got beat several times by Broncos’ wideout Ashley Lelie.

OG Dan Neil served on Denver’s offensive line and helped clear way for two rushing scores in the loss.

Miami took an early lead over Buffalo but with the help of OT Mike Williams, the Bills mounted a 21-point second half in a 42-32 comeback victory over the Dolphins. Williams helped make way for the Bills to rush for over 100 yards and win their third-straight game to keep their playoff hopes alive after starting the season 0-4.

CB Nathan Vasher recorded three tackles for Chicago in the Bears’ 24-14 upset win over Minnesota. Chicago’s defense picked off Viking QB Daunte Culpepper three times and limited the prolific touchdown passer to just two TD tosses. Vasher’s squad held Minnesota scoreless in the second half.

A one-loss New England team crushed Cleveland 42-15 and limited Browns’ K Phil Dawson to no field goals and just one extra point.

Kansas City RB Priest Holmes still did not play as his Chiefs beat Oakland 34-27. KC head coach Dick Vermeil said he believes Holmes, who has missed four games with a knee injury, will return to action sometime this season.

Washington’s offense finally got over the 20-point barrier by defeating the New York Giants 31-7. In the win, OG Derrick Dockery played on a Redskin O-line that allowed RB Clinton Portis to rack up 148 yards on the grass. The struggling Redskins found the goal line four times to end the team’s three-game losing streak.
