Texas Holds Annual Basketball Banquet

Texas held its annual basketball banquet Monday night.

After making second-team All-Big 12, Texas junior forward Jonathan Holmes brought home another honor Monday night, that of the team's Most Valuable Player as voted on by his peers.

Holmes, who led the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game and was second in rebounding at 7.2 boards per contest, had a big night otherwise, also landing the Team Captain Award and sharing the Most Improved Player Award with sophomore center Cameron Ridley. Demarcus Holland was the team's most Outstanding Defensive Player for the second year in a row.

All three played major roles in helping Texas rebound from a less-than-stellar 2012-2013 season by putting up a 24-11 record, tying for third in the Big 12 with an 11-7 mark and making it to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns are expected to have everybody back for 2014-2015.
