The Big 12 Conference announced Monday that Ridley, a sophomore, was was picked as the player of the week, as voted on by a panel of media covering Big 12 men's basketball. It was Ridley's first career Big 12 weekly honor.
Ridley averaged 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in Texas's wins over No. 22 Kansas State (67-64) and No. 24 Baylor (74-60), while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor. Ridley had 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks against the Wildcats, then scored eight with a career-high 14 boards at Baylor.
For the season, Ridley leads Texas in rebounding at 7.8 boards per game, and in blocked shots (48), with the third-best blocked-shot total in the Big 12. His rebounding average is fourth in the Big 12.
In Big 12 play, Ridley is second in both blocked shots per game (2.43) and rebounds per game (8.9).
Texas will next take on Kansas on Saturday, with the tip set for 3 p.m. CT.
