Longhorns Healing Up

Texas fans received good news from Texas's head athletic trainer for football on Friday, as nearly every Longhorn is expected to be ready to go by the time the season opener rolls around Aug. 31.

Texas head trainer Kenny Boyd released an update on the Longhorns' ailments on Friday, and here were the highlights:

* Junior offensive tackle Josh Cochran (lower left leg), senior offensive guard Trey Hopkins (lower left leg), junior linebacker Tevin Jackson (right shoulder) and senior defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat (right shoulder/pectoral muscle) have all been released to return to full participation.

* Junior cornerback Quandre Diggs, junior wide receiver Jaxon Shipley and junior safety Josh Turner all went through recent procedures to address lingering hip injuries. All three will be limited at the start of preseason camp and will be able to progressively work into full practice. All are expected to be full-go for the season opener.

* Senior wide receiver Mike Davis recently underwent hernia surgery, and he'll be limited at the start of camp as well. But like the others, he's expected to be ready for the opener.

* And senior linebacker Demarco Cobbs will be out for the beginning of preseason training camp after undergoing right knee surgery. He is expected to return to practice near the end of camp.
