Detroit Country Day (Mich.) senior OT Poet Thomas is off to Texas Tech.

Texas Tech picked up a late commitment from Detroit Country Day's Poet Thomas, a 6'6, 295-lb lineman who has played defensive tackle, but may project to offensive line at the next level.

"After visiting Texas Tech, he was so impressed," his father Pete Thomas said. "He cancelled his visits to Syracuse, Louisiana Tech and Illinois."

Mr. Thomas also said that Poet's mother is from the area and they still have family in the Lubbock area.

"We felt this was a good fit," he said.

Thomas also held offers from Colorado, SMU, Eastern Michigan, at one point, Florida, and Kansas.
