Two OL Set to Announce This Week

Texas entered the 2013 class with a major need along the offensive line. And by mid-week, the Longhorns should be able to find out whether they've met those needs.

Texas already has commitments from Kent Perkins and Darius James, likely the top tackle and interior lineman in the 2013 in-state class. But the Longhorns are hoping their commitment total will double by the end of the week.

First, top JUCO target Desmond Harrison will decide between Texas, Arizona State and USC at 2 p.m. CT Monday. A standout for Contra Costa C.C., Harrison has the size (6-8 320) and the athleticism to factor in immediately at left tackle for the Longhorns, allowing current left tackle Donald Hawkins either to fight with Josh Cochran for the right tackle job or move inside to guard.

Then, a relatively new target, Rami Hammad, is expected to announce a decision on Wednesday. A one-time Oklahoma State commitment and more recent Baylor commitment, Hammad is expected to choose between four schools: Baylor, Texas, TCU and Oklahoma, with Texas and Baylor thought to have a head-up on the rest. Hammad officially visited Texas this past weekend, along with Longhorn safety commitment Erik Huhn.

Hammad is ranked as the nation's No. 10 guard, with great natural size at 6-5 310 and a mauler's mentality.

Should the Longhorns win both players, Texas would likely be finished recruiting the line in the 2013 class. If the Longhorns land one, or even neither, then expect them to evaluate and go after other prospects.
