Brandon Moore , a mammoth 6-foot-7, 330-pound nose tackle from East Mississippi Community College is a startling combination of size and athleticism. In picking Texas Wednesday, Moore will have a chance to slide right into a defensive tackle rotation looking to replace graduating star Kheeston Randall.
Moore was rated as a four-star offensive tackle coming out of Carver Senior High School in Montgomery, Ala., and he signed with the Crimson Tide as a member of the 2009 recruiting class. He picked Alabama over offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Mississippi and Tennessee. Current Texas defensive tackles coach and former Alabama assistant Bo Davis helped recruit Moore to the Tide. He was known for his uncommon athleticism for his size, once clocking a 4.87 40-yard dash at 330 pounds.
Moore started off at defensive end for the Crimson Tide before transferring to East Mississippi.
Moore's commitment gives the Longhorns 23 in the Class of 2012. He is one of four defensive tackles, along with Malcom Brown, Paul Boyette and Alex Norman.
